Kim Salzer in the interview explained that EA “killed” the MMO due to EA “going through some changes at the time”. Simply put, EA didn’t think the game would last long. These included ribbons for quizzes, and other features that awarded the player for their feats. While the MMO would be online (hence it being an MMO), players could win physical prizes that would have been mailed all over the world. However, what was shared was the game aimed to have both online and offline elements. There additionally hasn’t been much information shared on what gameplay would have been like, apart from players attending Hogwarts. There was a beta name that came with the concept, though that hasn’t been shared. This information was recently revealed in an interview with Kim Salzer former director of product marketing for EA. The Harry Potter MMO was scheduled to be released in the early 2000s.

The limelight has also fallen on something else – the forgotten, and cancelled, Harry Potter themed MMO. Additionally, the news surrounding Hogwarts Legacy, expecting to come out in 2022 has added more fuel to the fire for Potterheads.

The newest event to happen was the reunion of the cast members at Hogwarts. There’s been a lot of buzz around Harry Potter recently.
